A couple of you are using Gibson exhaust. Which model are you guys using? I want to get the "Split Rear", but I'm don't want to have to remove my spear tire. The Notes on Gibsons web site say's that I would have to remove the spare for a "Dual Sport", but not for the "Split Rear".
The split rear looks like it would run into my spare tire, and the dual sport has twin pipes that exit right behind my right rear tire. I think that this note must be a typo, but I just want to verify with some of you that currently run Gibson.
Thanks for the reply. I had that sinking feeling. The reason why I zeroed in on Gibson, was because they had a dual out. Most other manufactures had a single out. I guess I feel if I can't have a dual out, then there is no point in changing the exhaust. I love the look, and I love the sound that a dual makes.
Have you thought about having a custom exhaust built for your truck? Try a local shop and see what they can come up with for you. They may be able to custom bend the pipes so that you won't have to lose the spare tire. It might be around the same price as the Gibson systems.
what year is your truck??? and what motor.
I just installed a gibson split rear on a ranger and it seems to not run properly. The spare tire did not have to come out permanently, just for ease of installation. BUt hey, wait till I figure this rpm problem out before buying a gibson. I took off a different aftermarket exhaust but it seemed to run fine until this new exhaust.

I put the single Gibson on my 2000 f 150, love it, but the first time I got the cheaper one and had some muffler age problem, but gibson sent me an update of the stainless system for the difference in price too. Should of got SS to start with specially for our rustbelt area.
Now I wish I went for the duals, even with sparetire problem, I don't usally haul the spare anaway. As long as I keep good tires on the trk. I hope I don't need it.and when I do I put it in the bed, like I used to in the olden days with my Van&77f100. forsure next time duals.
