I'm picking up an 06' f250 next week, 84,000 miles. I want to go ahead and get a monitor for it. I used to have an Edge on my truck that was stolen a couple of years ago, should I get another Edge or I'd there something better?
Might look at the SCT Livewire TS. As far as gages go the Edge CTS is probably better. I have the SCT livewire in my 2006. I had a Edge Evolution in my 2003. The Edge was much easier to navigate and set up. I went with the livewire because it will for sure keep the CEL off if the EGR is deleted.
I use the Dashboss with my IPad using Bluetooth.
Totally programable for the user as you can see half of the metrics I monitor on this page. There are 12 other parameters that you can also monitor on the gauge style settings.

I see you have the Livewire on a 6.0, so I assume you are running some tunes. How do you like it? How's performance and any thoughts you would care to share.
I am running the caned tunes that came with the livewire, 65hp towing IIRC. Its ok. still cant get a true answer if it turns off the EGR, or turns off the codes from deleting the egr. Takes some time to master the touch screen, real finicky. The exhaust backpressure reads wrong and SCT knows it, they say they are working on it, but its been well over 3 years that they had the problem. The EGT probe is ridiculously priced at $200.
I called there tech support one day to ask about the exhaust backpressure and I was #24 in the que, half hour later I was #23. I gave up and called early the next day. Only took 45 min to talk to live person that time. The SCT is popular here, and I do think its a good tuner, but not impressed with the livewire.
I think before ripping into it, I'd be confirming the real issue with a gauge... Torque pro is a free app for Android, paired with an ELM327 blue tooth devise ($20) and get you the info you need... or a scan gauge2.
Before spending $1000's of dollars on a repair you may not need.
YES, I'd also look for FICM health, turbo vanes for possible sticking, actual and pending codes. Buzz test if possible (Forscan is free, uses the ELM327 wifi/blue tooth) to check injectors electrically. Over-all voltage, alternator voltage and battery health.
Is the white smoke a sweet smell or fuel? Loosing coolant from the cap or out the tile pipe? Over fueling causes white smoke as well. What you don't want to do it rip it apart and replace oil cooler, EGR and all the other stuff for $5000 and find out its 1 injector for $286 and a few hours of work.
And where in the world are you.... maybe someone close to you (another member) can help with all those readings. Probably wouldn't hurt to gain another friend, especially a Ford friend!
