Question Starter problem

Just yesterday I discovered a coolant leak somewhere in the lower part of the engine (the 302). I put a dose of Bar's Leak in and it fixed it right away. Is it purely coincidence that today my starter will spin like crazy put does not always engage the flywheel? Could coolant spilling over the starter cause this problem with the solenoid? I really don't want to replace the starter yet as it's been one thing after another for the past month or so.
Any input would be HUGELY appreciated.

Water should not have killed your starter, but it sounds like it did. It was probably on the way out. But that's a cheap, easy fix. I can R&R my Bronco starter in 15 mins.

Starter problem

Sounds like you bendix went out, it's probly engaging but the clutch is dead and the shaft is just spinning.
R&R on a ford stater is easy, I rebuild them for a living.
I can't remember when ford started to put the solinoid on the starter, but I don't think 91 had it yet, I could be wrong.
Good luck.
