About 3 years ago the blower on our 94 explorer started "dropping out", no reason (no apparent reason). It would stay off for a period, and then just start back up again. The time period in the off state is longer than ever, now, and we are getting ready to go to Albuquerque, no time to do without AC. Anyone have this experience?
My 94 did the same thing. The blower motor relay is located under the hood in the black box to the left of the engine. I forget right now what its called but all the relays and some fuses are there. I opened the cover on the box and found the relay it was labeled. I pulled it out just like a wall plug cleaned the prongs and spread them apart just a little for a better connection then pluged it back in and I haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps.
Hello Ray, and thanks for the answer. The only problem is that I had already bought a switch ($85.00) and found out that the switch was not the problem. I went through the same thing you did, and found the same problem. Cleaned the relay contacts and improved the compression on the pins, worked better than it had for some time. By the way, the new switches look like they are made with silver contacts, they will never (should never) need replacement.
Thanks again,
