7.5l 1994 f250 performance
Hello. I was considering buying a ford f250 4x4 7.5l gas 460 big block in an early 90s most likely getting a 94. I was wondering how I should go about beefing it up. I'm not above doing a swap although am very interested in that engine. I want some serious horsepower, a 6 inch lift, and a towing capability that allows me to never worry about how big of a toy hauler and boat I get. I have a few thousand able to go into the performance alone. I'm trying to keep it around 3-4 grand for performance and lift. Any suggestions about lift kit, performance parts, computer chips, tires, anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

My first response is to tell you to find one that is already built that way, but they don't come that cheap either. The reason I say that is because you are talking about a time consuming project, that could take all or more than your budget.
A stock 94 460 in an F series was rated around 230hp. If you define serious horsepower as anything above 270, you are looking at a rebuild. If the f-250 you find has 4.10 differential gears, you don't need anymore power to pull the biggest toy hauler you can find.
A chip for it won't gain you much power with an EEC-IV PCM like what is in a 94. Like my quarter horse chip, it serves mainly to dial things in.
I don't dabble in lift kits, but I do know tires. The bigger the tires you want, the lower your final drive ratio becomes. In other words, bigger tires equals less pulling power. Food for thought!
