best bodywork howto book?
bodywork book. I got a tip from my local ZR paint
retail distributor that what I needed was a Petersen
book on bodywork and also a Petersen book
on auto painting. Are these the best? Any other
candidates out there? I tried Barnes and Noble
but they could not get me any such books...
maybe they are out of publication? If so, is it worth
trying to locate somewhere like abebooks.com
or secondhand in amazon.com?
Thanks,

etc.
I haven't found a book about painting that I'm happy with. Most of them are outdated and talk about lacquer primers or similar type of products. If someone can recommend a good book, I sure would be interested.
For basic autobody, you might want to check out the Howard's Backyard Autobody video's.
If you have a community college in your area, you might want to see if they have a course. Most evening classes are geared for the DIY person and you work on your own rig.
Auto Restoration Tips and Techniques
by Peterson
Spence Murray, ed.
Motorbooks International, 1989 (out of print)
There is an apparently simpler one on Amazon:
Classic Car Restorer's Handbook: Restoration Tips and Techniques for Owners and Restorers of Classic and Collectible Automobiles
by Jim Richardson
H.P. Books, 1994
Another one:
How to Restore Your Collector Car
by Tom Brownell
Motorbooks International, 1999
The Peterson's is very expensive ($45) for a used book.
Decisions, decisions...
