What should I do.
I just bought a 97 Ford F-150 4.2 V6 XLT with 186k miles. The truck is in great condition but the engine is in need of some TLC. There is a loud engine knock and it occasionally stalls. Wile stopped at a light the oil pressure drops to zero and the light comes on. Even with all the problems there is no check engine light or service codes. Spark plugs and oil pump are new. Head gasket and timing chain where changed. Engine timing was just reset. Does anyone have any idea what to do to get the truck running smoothly?

If there's a noticable knock from the (bottom end) of the engine and your oil pressure drops like that then the only real solution would be to replace the motor itself. It sounds to me like its just plain worn out inside.
