Bear with me as I try to fix up this 03 Navigator I just picked up cheap.
Do the heated seats only work if the fan is working?
When I switch on heating or cooling on both seats I don't hear anything. I will check the fan motors at some point, but Im trying to understand a bit more about how they work. I assumed the heat came from elements under the leather, but in another thread I read something about heat blowing through the seats.
Hopefully you've figured this out, if not, what vehicle? On the 2003-2006 expeditions there is one screw in the storage try of the center console that you remove. Then you make sure the big storage area lid is open and you carefully lift the center console cover from the bin to the A/C. Don't lift any area too fast or you'll break the cheap plastic retainer clips. Before you can completely remove the plastic, you will need to unplug the console outlet. Now you can set it aside and dig around.
I haven't fixed it yet, I just got a cable last night to try to get to the MS Can Bus but now it looks like they didn't get the MS Can Bus until 2005. So I'm still doing research.
Thanks for the info on the module, for now I'm going to check the plug and grounds on it. After disconnecting the battery to depower it of course.
You have an heating element under the leather on the bottom cushion and the back cushion the cooling is done by fan check fuses and modules check the heating pad test ohms to make sure you have a complete circuit also part of that circuit has a thermostat if it goes bad you'll no if you test the ohms hopefully this helps a little
I believe on the Expedition the MS CAN was introduced with the refresh in '05. However, the Navigators sometimes received new features before the Expy, so it's not impossible that the Navigator had a form of MS CAN before the Expy received it. The only way to know for sure, is to either check the wiring diagram of the communication network, or to have a MS CAN capable scantool to check if it finds anything on the MS CAN protocol.
