New EFI gas tank from Tanks Inc.

Installed.

I've also started on the exhaust. Welding stainless with a MIG and flux core has been a learning experience.

Planning the muffler positioning.

I also got the KRC power steering pump kit installed. I removed the factory AC compressor belt tensioner and idler, and had to go to a stretch to fit AC belt.

That's coming along nicely Brent. Looks like the exhaust is going to have to be perfectly located to not touch the battery box and brake booster. I'd give consideration to fabbing some heat shields if it ends up as tight as it appears in the pic.

Yes the exhaust is tight. I have since the picture, changed the brake booster to a 7" rather than the 8" booster. I had both on hand. I will definitely need heat shielding on both the brake booster and battery box.

I have been working on finishing the exhaust system. Planning the layout.

More planning, with the rear bumper in place.

I found a receiver hitch. It needs work.

Patching the hole someone had cut in the bumper.

Rehabbed receiver hitch and bumper brackets. After blasting, straightening and paint.

Moving back to finishing the exhaust system.

The driver side view. The bumper and, receiver hitch should protect the gas tank from a rear collision.

I relocated the oil filter to the front of the frame.

Finishing up the oil filter with -10AN lines.

I put heat shields on the exhaust to protect the battery and the brake booster. Not bad for two weeks work.

Maybe I missed it, but that appears to be a front bumper?

Ross, It's a panel Truck. The front and rear bumpers are shaped the same. At least that was the way it was, when I got it.

Schoo, The battery access will have to be via a hatch through the floor of the bed/cargo area. It should be just behind the passenger seat.

Here's a battery idea: Optima makes a 6V version of their AGM battery that can be mounted in any position even upside down. 2 of them in series can be placed behind or even under the seat, in the side compartment(s) in a panel, on their sides under the running board or bed.

If mounting a battery under the truck, why not use a drop down box rather than a hatch? How often do you need to access the battery?

Here is mine in a drop down box. I also have a battery off/on switch and + charging post located in the engine bay which I am glad that I did.

Good ideas on the battery. I'll do some more thinking on it. I could just hinge the back of the box I built. There's room to slide the battery to the rear.

While waiting on engine parts I have started to do some body work. One area of rust through on the wheel tub will get patches welded in.

Over all the body is in great shape. The previous owner had done the outside repairs. I don't know what these gobs of bondo are covering. Hope it's not indicative of the completed repairs.

The floor cross members are rust free. The floor was difficult to remove. The captured nuts were rusted to the bolts. I still have 3 to remove. I had to cut the bolts. When I can get the body on the hoist I'll be able to see them from the bottom.

The cab floors are rusty but sound. I'll POR 15 them then coat with bed liner top and bottom. FatMat sound deadening and carpet on top.
