> grade 8 stainless steel hardware

Just want to comment that if it is stainless steel it probably is not grade 8 hardware. You want to use plain old grade 8 hardware, even the washers. There tends to be some problems when using stainless steel for suspension work. When the top piece of metal is being clamped, I believe fine thread is recommeded for the bolts.

Hmmm, I never caught the stainless note but Rebo is right, stainless in not grade 8, and not as strong. It is tough and I think it works out to be @ grade 6, maybe slightly more. I wouldn't use it on anything critical (susp) because I only use grade 8 on everything. Then again, I thrash my rigs. So, to answer your question, stainless is not as strong as grade 8 but guys can get away with using it if they don't flog their truck off-road. As with everything, it depends on vehicle weight, intended purpose, and driving style. Me, I wouldn't use anything but the strongest bolt possible. Its up to you.
