It's been many years since I had an accident, and this is my first accident involving a second vehicle (first accident was a roll over).
No one was hurt, thankfully. Quite embarrassing, especially since the officer who was driving by and stopped to check on us, recognized me as working for the local ambulance company.
Long story short, I thought traffic was flowing, but slowing. I looked left to merge onto that lane and saw a car so I couldn't change lanes. When I looked forward again I was right on the car. I was probably going about 35 mph and he was stopped. Hit hitch saved his vehicle from more damage as it acted as a barrier for my bumper. Damage was minor considering the speed.
Very lucky considering the big Ranch hand bumper you are running.
Had that been a car, I am sure things would look very different.
Glad it wasn't too bad. My dad just had a similar accident just at lower speeds. Thought lady went and creeped forward to start to merge, looked back and there she was and bump.
What schedule is the pipe on that replacement? That's a hell of a hickey, but not bad considering it stopped an 8000#+ truck at 35mph on essentially a couple square inches of surface area for the edge of his receiver.

I have no clue. Partly because I dont know what a schedule metal is and because I havent analyzed the bumper
Ya if that had been a Prius the out come would have been a little different...lol. Glad nobody got hurt. Thats probably 3-5K damage on the GM. Parts and labor are outrageous today! Even a Little bender now a days is 2K
Only one thing I'd worry about... Frame damage. With bumpers like that hitting a hitch, it's very possible there is some frame damage. Looks like gap on driver side is bigger than passenger side between headlights and bumper.
