crashbox grinding until warm.

I've noticed this for a while now. When I first start my truck up, the 4 speed crashbox wants to grind the gears (up and downshifting) for the first few miles. After a few miles, it gets better and I can shift with no issues.

I'm running 85w140 in the gearbox. Do I need to switch to a single weight oil?

I recently switched to straight 140 wt, it seems to help a little, but it is still kike driving an old truck

Get your rpm's up higher on the first couple of shifts and make the shift from first into second quick. I have best results with 140 also.

I typically start up the engine about 3-5 minutes before I actually want to drive. I let the engine warm up until it runs smoothly without choke. This also warms up the gear oil in the transmission.
