I disagree with much of the OP's procedures for his A/C repair, but he didn't deserve the responses he got from this thread. If anyone would go back and re-read the thread I think people will find it very clear.
I feel the same as you. I thought about it, and I realized that things are said by one that they may regret or want to retract (that is the choice of the individual). I found the other A/C thread and I saw the rantings of a frustrated man. Now this is where I apply the former, because I too have been in a place as that, I may be young (22), but I have matured quickly. However in my formative years I did the same as the OP. I admit it and I am ashamed but, being a man, to me, means swallowing some pride and calming down. I learned quickly that while someone can insult you, and you can return the favor, it will achieve self-satisfaction to be self-vindicated, but gets one nowhere...FAST. It degrades your own image in the eyes of your peers.

These are facts and profound thoughts, I for one am willing to do a Mulligan.

Nice comments from some of the senior members - really go a long way towards community building and encouraging prospective members (lurkers) to join.

Kinda sad to see actually.

Sadder even still is the nature of the original or opening post-----lets take this thread in its entirety shall we, from the beginning? It took nearly no provocation to set this guy off----threats to leave, how its better to be a GM guy PLUS posting the same sort of rant in one more sub-forum and maybe then it becomes a bit more clear why or how this has run amok.

No its not the best showing this forum and it's members have made but again take it in context----this single thread is a huge minority compared with every other polite and helpful thread to date.

If this OP has indeed left FTE we're better advised to concentrate on other threads with active members whether they're brand new or longer term users. BTW if its convenient or helpful here by all means blame me for originally inciting this guy----regardless I stand by my disdain for ill-advised approaches to any repair especially when there's a claimed 15 years DIY repair experience which should have been more than enough knowledge to understand the choices made weren't likely to produce hoped-for results.

We can try helping fix a lot of things here, bad choices after-the-fact ain't one of 'em though.

Spoken like a true politician JWA. Lots of words but no humbleness, nor apology. You could/should take some cues from the 22year old a few posts above.

"Convenient or helpful to blame JWA?" Nope it's just the plain facts. You blasted the guy with absolutely no helpful suggestions.

And this post helps the op how?
Not that me pointing this out helps either, but let's just let this go guys.

JWA is a great help on this forum. Let's keep that in mind.
It gets old after a while, same thing over and over.

I have been beat to death on this forum, so if you want to take a shot at me, go for it. Make it fun and funny tho, this has become boring

I'm totally with you Dustybumpers. This is ridiculous.

Problem is: JWA started the crap, fueled it in the middle, and then tries to bloviate his way out of it? It's injustice. The 22year old (98econoline150) Showed more maturity and integrity than the 55year old JWA.

The guy sits on his throne of 8,200 posts thinking he's something special. Quite the opposite.

JWA is a great contributor most of the time but you know what they say about a sponge: give it some pressure and it will show you what's really on the inside.

John, can you close this thread please?
It has run it's course, and can no longer serve ANY useful purpose

Well... Let's see. We are all human and we should never forget none of us is infalable. You, me, Olds, JWA... I don't hold anything against Olds. It can be easy to pile on when someone starts to get angry and loses their rationale. I appreciate the respect but please don't throw me roses. I am by no means a hero.

One does not have to forgive the OP, or understand him, but realize he is just another person on this terminal journey called life, just like the rest of us. We should all remember while we are a team, wherever we may feel allegiance and that if we like each other we should be nicer to our fellows.

I posted in response to his claim that wrecked vehicles must have been running previously before they were wrecked because it was snarky, and I had a personal experience I could share to refute it. I understand about posting with civility and I guess my post was a bit 'spur of the moment', but the thread was hardly one-sided.
