tranmission modulator
Hey fellas got a 1994 explorer,have been told the trans. mod.
needs to be replaced to stop the loss of trans.fluid,was told it is
going back into the motor.Bought the part but can't see the
old one on the outside of the trans. so I'm guessing it is an
internal job. Can someone tell me if this is correct and how to
do it.The part is small and has a sleeve for one hose looks like
it's held in with a c-clip.

Hey,
It is at the rear of the trans on the passenger side above the trans pan. It can be hidden by the skid plate and t-case. When replacing it , look for the rod that is behind it when you pull it out and reinstall that rod. If you loose it that is trouble. Have fun!

If you support the rear of the transmission/transfer case and lower the right side of the transmission crossmember it makes the modulator easier to get to. Make sure the catalitic converter is cold.
