Stroking a 5.4 L out to 5.8 L
Hi all,
I presently own an'07 Expedition with a nearly stock 5.4 L, the only mod is a pair of small turbo's running mild boost (and a PCM re-curve to adjust for that). I've always been a "wrench-turner," spec'ing out a completely new engine is something new I'm taking on.
With the stock block, I "can't" do anything more than the mild boost I'm running now. I travel off-road extensively so I want more low-end torque. To produce that, I plan to build a new engine based on an aluminum 4-bolt 5.4, stroked out to 5.8, that will accept a DOHC cam head configuration. This design will be new from the ground up (crank, rods, pistons, heads, cams, manifolds, valves, etc.). If you have experience with a similar project, advice would be very helpful.
I'll need to install a stouter 6-speed auto to handle the addition torque.
I need recommendations starting with the block meets all the spec's I need. If you can provide additional spec's beyond those listed above post those, I can use whatever input I can get.
If you have FMS or FRRP stock numbers, I'd love to get them from you.
Thanks,
Bruce,
since my learner's permit and a '62 Falcon.
