RIP Frank Gifford
Today - 84 years old. Football Hall of Fame and announcer.

I only saw him when he was announcing for Monday Night Football. Knew a lot about the game, but was often a little off on the yardage, sometimes the down -- and occasionally the team. But he had Meredith and Cosell ( and later Tarkenton) to put up with.
Seemed to be a pretty nice guy, and probably was a helluva player.
I'll also mention that one Monday night, the VIkings were playing and Fran Tarkenton was on the job, yammering away about this and that. The Vikes missed a pass and Tark went on about the receiver choosing one option and the quarterback going for a different one.
I think that Gifford had had enough, and he knew the way that Bud Grant did things. He said "Um Fran, Do Viking receivers have that option?"
Fran was pretty much forced to say that they really didn't
