Hey guys, brand new here, so hello. I am thinking about buying a 1964 F600 tow truck from my neighbor. It has great patina with the old faded logo on the doors. Looks awesome. My only concern is I wanna make it hot rod-ish. I wanna lower it a bit and install some nice aluminum wheels. I only want to get the truck if I can get custom wheels. It has the 6 lug widow makers now. I have been searching for days and cant find anything about aftermarket wheels. Does anyone know if there is anyone who makes wheels for these ? I figure I can remove a leaf or two to get the ride height right but not being able to find nice wheels might be a deal breaker for me. My whole plan would be to satin clear the body to keep it the way it is, big loud performance motor and trans, lowered and custom wheels and cruise the hell out of it. Is this possible ?
Thanks for doing some research to realize it has the widow makers BEFORE you buy it. Seems to generally work the other way around.
No off the shelf custom wheels exist anymore for the 6 x 8.75" bolt pattern. Custom wheels can be made for it by one of the Accuride authorized distributors. Such as Wheels Now in WI, or Century Wheel on the west coast. Expensive. You will also want to be aware that in 1963 and 1964 F-600s where fitted with hub piloted wheels and components. Before and after were stud piloted. I can't say from the books whether all F-600s during those years were equipped that way, or whether there was a mix of hub and stud designs. Just know that you'll have to order what the truck requires. Stu
