Rear Tank Removal

Hey everyone, I've got a 96' F-150 XLT Ext. Cab Short bed that has developed a fuel leak coming from somewhere in the rear fuel tank. I don't exactly have the time, or patience to deal with it now - school's around the corner - is there a way I can remove it, plug up the lines going to the main line going to the engine without having any issues? The rear tank is also getting fuel from the front tank, which also isn't a good sign. Any advise is strongly appreciated!
