When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
FTE's forums have had a feature in place for a long time that prevents people from getting your email address. Basically, if you allow people to contact you via email on the site (in the settings menu) they don't see your email address. Rather, they are presented with a form box. They fill in the box and our system emails the user for you, never revealing your email address (unless you choose to reply directly to that user's email to you).
I just added code tonight that disables this contact form for users who have been registered for less than 30 days and have fewer than 25 posts. This unfortunate step was made because scammers have tried to register and then use the form to contact our users. Even though they didn't see your email address, they could still contact you via the form.
The code I added prevents this by allowing only established, participating members of the site to use the form.
