ignition trouble
my 83 f100 has a really hard time starting. the ignition lock cylinder is really hard to turn to start. i have replaced the ignition switch and the key cylinder. in the winter the switch is so hard to turn you almost need a pair of pliers to start the truck. i unhooked the linkage that goes to the ignition switch and it works perfect. the ignition switch at the base of the column is too hard to move. used a napa replacement switch. anybody else have this problem? the switch slide doesnt want to move, especially to start. i'm thinkin this is a bad part to buy from napa.

ya napa isnt ford oem quality, but ive never had any trouble with any of their stuff until now. and ive bought a lot of stuff from em. im probably gonna get a motorcraft one from the dealer and see if that one works better.

Have you looked at the upper end of the rod and the gear that is up there? There is a gear just behind the lock cylinder that goes to the column lock actuator and ignition actuator rod. Mine broke entirely and I had to take the column apart to get to it.
