Stolen: F250 Crew Cab

Well I walked out of my house Monday and all I saw
was a pile of glass!

It was a 2000 Ford F-250 Crew Cab 4x4 Diesel.
Harvest Gold with Tan Interior. Only 40k miles on the
clock.

I know there are thousands of them in the phoenix
area, but if anyone sees anything, pass the info my
way.

I am pretty much bummed right now. All I can do
is wait and see if it turns up or what the settlement
will be. It was just about paid off too. I was looking
forward to many years with a reliable truck with no
more payment. Now it looks like I will be faced with
buying a new truck. Probably an 04' to avoid all the
6.0 problems.

Thanks!

I was curious. What year did Ford start putting the chip in the ignition key on the F250s for theft protection. I thought it was in 1999?

Sorry to hear that!!

For some reason I don't think Ford has used the PATS system on the super duties!!! My 02 doesn't have one, my brothers 03 doesn't have one, and at work, our 01 doesn't have one....???? I would think Ford would put them in all their vehicles, not just some like the F-150's and Mustangs......

Sorry to hear about your loss. Unfortunately, your truck is probably in/near Mexico full of people crossing the border illegally. Even if they find it, you probably won't want it back. I had a truck stolen once. It was just never the same after being recovered. Ended up selling it to my cousin.

None of the SuperDuty trucks have any kind of theft protection. Probably because fleet buyers would scream about the $80 replacement PATS keys. Sad thing is that Ford could add some kind of pseudo-alarm to the truck. GMC has one on their HD line... heck, even my little KIA Sportage has an intrusion alert built in!

So....the trucks don't have it, but the Excursions do. Wonder if that could be a potential "upgrade"? Are the steering columns the same?

I'm sorry to hear about your truck, I live in South Texas, and most of our stolen vehicles end up in Mexico as well.

I have an 01 Expedition with the security chip in the key, but my boyfriend just picked up his 2004 F-350 and his doesn't have it, just a regular old key - we were shocked.
