Trannny mount issue

I have a 1960 F100 that I have put a 5.0 Mustang engine and T-5 tranny in. I was wondering if anybody knew off of what vehicle could I get a tranny mount/support bar off of that would fit the truck or am I going to have to go a different route ie: fab one from scratch? Any help greatly apprecieated.

Trannny mount issue

This may or may not help you. My 1948 F-1 has 350 Chevy and Turbo 350 trans and I used the original trans crossmember(From the F-1) but drilled new holes for the rubber Turbo 350 trans mount.

Trannny mount issue

In my '59 with a 302 with an AOD, we just moved the existing motor mounts.

Trannny mount issue

The problem is that the 60 Ford does not have a cross member tranny mount. The engine mounts in the front and then rests on a welded cross member in the rear just before the tranny. Basically the original four speed that was in the truck "free floated" and attached to the carrier bearing via the short drive shaft. I currently am using a C-4 Mustang tranny that mounts towards the rear of the tranny in a mustang using a cross member that you can remove via bolts. That cross member is to short to use in the truck. Should I just un-weld the rear engine motor cross member mount and drill some holes and move it to use with the tranny? Hopefully this helps!

You might try looking in a salvage yard to see if you can find one the right length or lengthen your current one.
