This is a long shot but has anyone from Canada her order anything from LMC truck , if so how hard is it to get things shipped to us?
Is it really expensive for the shipping and the customs charges really outrages?
Hey bignewf. I am here in Ontario, originally from New Brunswick. I have ordered parts out of the US before with no big issues. What are you looking for? Rock Auto is really good , so is Macs Auto Parts , and Bronco Graveyard. Of course I have some good sources around here, depending on whaat you are looking for.
Hey bignewf bought a lot from LMC when dollar was par not so bad. They use UPS for shipping which can get pretty expensive there brokerage and duties are nuts. Try using Dennis Carpenter where you can, far superior parts and they will put it in the mail. The price they charge you is it ,no extras.
Rob where is your best source in Ontario. I am frequently there. I am currently living in NS right now but I make a couple trips a year to Ontario.
Thanks for the advice fellas.
Hey bignewf, I'm in Southwest Ontario. For the past 10 years I've been working on a frame off restoration of a 77F100 Shortbox Flareside. Used parts in this area are pretty scrap from the winters and salt. I've had good luck asking for sources on this forum, eBay, swap meets and site sponsors. Shipping in Canada is VERY expensive as you're finding out. Given my proximity to the U.S. Border I've had parts shipped to Michigan and brought them into Canada my self.
While LMC has plenty of reproduction parts some here on the forum have voiced concerns over the fit and quality. I have no experience with them, your mileage may vary.
Im from kamloops b.c. iv ordered from lmc and bronco graveyard. Shipping accross the line is no big deal but its expensive. With the canadian dollar right now u can Pretty much take the listed price and double it by the time its landed. Iv heard of people renting mailboxes accross the line and going down to pick up.
It's the border parasites (customs brokers) that make things more expensive. They add a fee and don't even open the package. Like Loui says try to get the vendor to use US Mail/Canada Post.
Incidentally, a lot of guys on here don't speak too well about LMC. I am one of them.
Eric
Hey bignewf. My sources have a good supply of used parts. Let me know what you need and maybe we can get it lined up for when you get up this way again.
If you are in the southwestern area of Ontario, specifically the Wingham, Listowel, Seaforth area, There is a guy that does deal with Dennis Carpenter and has stuff shipped here. If you're interested. John
I live in the Ottawa area. Have a 78 F150 4x4. Also have a 78 F100 in the Maritimes (cottage). Let me know if I can help. I can pick up parts in Ogdensburg, NY.
I'm in Winnipeg. I've looked at ordering parts from LMC but the shipping was too expensive. I had something shipped from Summit a little while back and it worked out well.
