Rebates and Incentives

Hey all,

I have been lurking in the 6.7 forum for a while, I don't post often but I read a ton. I have a 06 6.0, the truck has been awesome, but I think the time has come for an upgrade. I have someone interested in buying my truck and he is willing to actually pay what its worth, so I'm just waiting for him to come up with the funds.

My question is I'm looking at 15 Lariat Dually's, maybe possibly ordering a 16, but there are quite a few 15's laying around within 100 miles of me. I'm curious what I should expect on rebates/incentives on 15's since I see the 16's are currently hitting the lots. Most of the MSRP's are running between 57-62k for a Platinum which I could really care less about. I would really like to stay with a Lariat since that is what I have and I refuse to replace my truck with a lower model. And I know that I would never pay MSRP, but that's what I have to go on until I find something and walk into a dealer. I'm just trying to get an idea, and I haven't had a car payment since 09 so this "game" is a little rusty for me.

One of the dealers has a 14 left over as well, so I'm wondering what that should be worth seeing as its 2 model years old now. However I'd like to stick with a 15 for the single turbo.

Thanks for all the help,

Sarge

Truth be told, you will most likely get a better price on a 2015 than the 2014 due to incentives on the 2015 trucks. That being said it would boil down to how much the dealer on the 2014 is willing to take as an actual loss to get it off the lot.

On a 2015 Lariat 4x4 Dually around these parts $13K to $14K off of MSRP window sticker would be about right. Of course prices vary by location and demand.

If you get a Lariat, consider the Lariat Ultimate package. Lots of nice options here. In my area, you would get a great deal on the 2015. 2016/15 has more power than the 2014 but nothing wrong with a 2014 truck.

Lariat Ultimate package (power sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, nav system, rearview camera, tailgate step, and remote start)

They have an engine braking button that works seamlessly with the cc and t/h. The mpg's on the bigger turbo seem to be all over the board. Some claiming in the low 20's empty. I myself have never seen over 16 but the traffic here is either stop and go or 75 to 80. Not much in between. I do have to admit that aside from the mpg diff. there isn't much I miss about my 05 compared to the 2015. You've had a long history with your truck Sarge, but I don't think you'll regret the move unless you miss working on it. lol
If you belong to Costco or AAA you might also see what kind of discounts they are getting. I went thru Costco when the 15's first came out and got $10,500 off the msrp with no haggling. Might be better now with the 16's coming out.

Last I checked rebates on a 15 were $4k. A 16 was $1k. You should be able to get a 15 Platinum between 56-58 depending on your area. If you go with a 16 you will pay about $3k more, however you purchase a 15 you will probably lose the $3k in depreciation depending if you keep it long term or not. If you plan on keeping it go get a 15 and save the money.

You will win either way!

No I will keep this truck long term, Ive had my 06 coming up on 10 years now. So Im not one for trading every 3 or 4 years.

LOL I sure wont miss wrenching on my own stuff, but I like to customize so Im sure that I will find something to do IF this deal happens.

Got a mailing today from a local Ford dealer. They are offering me 110% of KBB price for my 2011. The offer is $26,840 so I checked and found KBB is $41,106. Great deal, right!

Ditto on the lariat ultimate. After 2 king ranch trucks I feel the lariat ultimate leather is the same as KR, basically when you get the cooled seats it upgrades to the same as they use on KR. you do not get the good leather steering wheel leather as well as the console leather, and no painted bumpers or wheel flares. Other than that it is identical and about $1500 cheaper if I remember the math right.

One of the reasons I went with the Platinun is I wanted the Pecan interior. Like my 05 I plan on at least a 10year love affair.

The nice thing about the Lariat it comes with a chrome bumper. I typically keep my trucks a little longer too and a chrome bumper will look just as good with 200k miles vs brand new. Can't say that with a painted bumper like the Platinum or King Ranch.

On the other hand the Platinum and King Ranch may have better quality leather so perhaps the interior will look better after 200k miles or many years of service.

Bottom line the 6.7PSD is sooo much better than a 6.0PSD there's really no comparison especially when you hook up a trailer you'll have a big grin that will be hard to wipe off.

Good luck....

Platinum gets you a heated steering wheel. Love that option in my Taurus.

I can relate to this. We went from a 6.0 to the 6.7 there is no comparison. Our 6.0 was struggling to tow our fifth wheel but the 6.7 we sometimes forget the fifth wheel is back there.

Not bashing those that push for the Ultimate PKG loaded Lariat. I on the other hand looked hard for a Lariat that did not come with the Ford NAV system or sunroof. Sunroof/Moon roof or whatever you car to label it to me is just a hole in the roof that I don't care for. Have had many in the past and opened very few. Never have gotten along with the Ford Nav System features and process for programing. I get better service out of my $160 or less portable nav systems. I do enjoy my heated/ac seats I will admit.
