I have bought a 79 thunderbird with a 351 that is really clean on the inside and am deciding to either keep it or rip the motor out and put it in the f100.
my question is can i take all the smog crap out of it and just run an alternator and powersteering and take the old ac off and just run smaller belts to get it running how i want. im not going to use the car just want to get the motor to as simple as possible. thanks
If you are going to take the smog stuff off you really should change out the intake and carb. You are reverting back to the 60's, but it will run better without that late 70's smog carb on it.
If you put it in the truck you will need to hunt up a truck rear sump oil pan, oil pump extension tube, and main cap support stud. I put a 351w in my 1980 out of a 78 cougar. I had a 4bbl intake and carb ready to go on it before I sold it and got this other truck.
