brake questions

It's hot outside and my dog is sick. I am doing nothing but asking questions today. I have stock drums on all four corners of my '60 and I plan on leaving it that way. I'm going to upgrade to a dual reservoir master cylinder. At first glance it looks like the newer parts use much larger brake lines than stock. I can learn to make/run new brake lines. I worry what to do where the flexible brake line connects to the old stock drum and also how to connect it after it passes through the frame.???????????????? Anyone run into this?

If you are reffering to the brake hoses, they thread into the wheel cylinders which are mounted on the top of the back plates, no rocket science. you'll be fine. When it goes thru the front frame, there is a jam nut holding it in place. Just take a look when your dog gets better and you will get it.

The dog is actually much better. Backing her way into pedigree via vet bills. My biggest question is, am I right that the modern masters utilize larger brake lines and in turn larger fittings. If they are larger do I reduce them to fit the brake lines? Are the NPT? fittings the same even though the metal lines are small? Almost not smart enough to ask a decent question!

You'll have no problems, the newer MC is capable of higher volume which means less pedal travel for your smaller lines and slave cylinders. If I were doing it, I'd run the larger lines into a proportioning valve as close as possible to the MC, then from the prop valve out use the stock size lines. They're not NPT, they're compound flare.

Sorry about your dog. Pets are often our best friends when no one else is available or willing.

Thank you for your dog thoughts. I can't tell you how many times this dog has been in bad shape and then rallied. It looks like she has turned the corner yet again. Home ...eating....pooping....playing....etc.

I have written a few time on here about using a 88ish dodge fullsize truck master & booster, almost a bolt on( you have to slightly slot the holes on the firewall.
but won't work if you are still running hyd. clutch.
