Hey guys, Ok so here is the story I need you help thanks in advance, i have been looking for an excursion for years, I finally found a 7.3 2002 Limited 1 owner unit with 150kmiles. its mint. all black not my first color choice but... None the less Here is my issue I have 25 Days to have my build complete.... This build has no budget.
#1 I want to run 41x14.50x20 Irok Radials So will an 8 in lift and Bushwacker Flare Cutouts be sufficient?
#2 Best 8 in lift skyjacker or BDS or ??
#3 looking for a good Beadlock rim or good off road capable rim any suggestions?
#4 Im looking for a rear bumper with tire carrier with extra fuel capacity swing out style, I found Cross eneterprises Phone number doesn't work?? but website is up?? and Runell whose phone number also doesn't answer but website is up??? Any ideas??
Ill be doing a re gear with 4:88 F&R with arb air lockers front and rear.
Thanks Again
Cheers
Not many of us have experience with the scenario you describe. In my opinion, get a small 4x4 that articulates well to do your Rock crawlin' and use that 7.3 excursion to tow it around.

WELCOME to the world of XXXs
25 Days Well, we won't have to wait long, Please pic the progress
Please add your general location to your profile, there are many members willing to help when needed.
1) any lift co. worth it's salt will be able to tell you the max tire size per there kit. Just to give you a guide, I run 37s with no cutting or issues on a 4" (= 6" on an X ) lift. I'd bet you could run the 41s with a 6" lift & Bushwackers.
2) Very subjective but I'd go with the BDS ( very popular around here) I do run Sky Jacker shocks
3) TRUE bead locks ( not to mention DOT legal ) will be VERY limited in choice. Try Googlely to see options .
4) There are some aluminum one that were just posted last week that might be worth a look. WAY out of my price range so I forgot about them as fast as they were posted. I'm sure someone will chime in with them for you. PLUS there is always a custom fab for that personal touch

Bummer- should have started with a 6. uh oh or a 5.4 since you're going to ruin it anyway...
No budget + unrealistic deadline... sounds like a reality show on the idiot box.
Hey Guys thanks for all the great responses, I put my location on my profile but I guess it didn't show up. I'm from Sask Canada, pics I guess if lots of people wanna see pics I will post progress shots, so here is our start
I did use contact to email both bumper company's but haven't heard anything in 2 days and due to time restraints need to find an option ASAP. I tryed search feature for the aluminum rear bumpers and carriers but nothing came up. Can anyone help me find those?
Here is what I'm looking for
Or
This is the 1 I really like
And I think these things being done properly can easily be done without ruining something. This is my Jeep Rubicon, it has a 6.4 Hemi on 40s drives beautiful this is my wheeling rig.
This excursion is for getting my family and all our gear into the lake and cabin in the winter hauling all our gear when my jeep is to small or is outta room.

If that's an '02 with a 7.3L PSD then the previous owner put on 6.0L PSD door badges and upgraded to the '03+ mirrors.
If you follow around, you'll find the same guy has a thread on pirate 4x4 about his x and he eventually went to 44's if I remember.
Another cool thread to look for is 'exploringNH' I think he's running 37" with 4" and cut-outs.
look forward to the build - even though I think 41's are overkill for what you're describing as your use. I think you'd have a capable rig with better durability and drive-ability if you stopped at 35's or 37's.
For lifts If I were going to be putting the time and money into it I'd be looking at one of the more specialty/high end companies like ICON or PMF.
Rear bumper ordered today from Reunel custom load with everything, gauges and pod shipped today new cold air and exhaust, 8 in bds shipped fox 2.5 with remote res shocks, gears, and ARB

Is that BDS 8" lift kit rated for 8" on an EX or SuperDuty? The EX starts out 2" lower than the pickups, so you have to add 2" to a SD lift when installing on an EX. A SD 8" lift would net about 10" on an EX.
Build what you like. I have a stock 4" lift and have gone in places most won't through Meeker Colorado and the Gunnison Mountains. Locally I run trails many get stuck on too. It is how you drive more than what you drive.
Up in Canada at least you will have enough snow and rough country to use what you are building. If you have an extra spot I would love to go that far back too. Still looking for the right moose to put on the table. Keep posting pics. Where I live I see some ridiculous rides that seldom leave asphalt. Beach Hummer 1's rolled over with 3 inches of snow and full rock crawlers stuck on a curb in the parking lot. Remember to show pics at the cabin too this winter.
Im not building this to look cool, i wheel regularly all over North America I posted a pic of my Jeep, Its on 40s with pro rock 60s and air lockers front and rear. And it takes everything it has to get into my cabin in the winter. Problem is i have 3 daughters and a wife, its a lot to of luggage.. the jeep is big but small. i need a larger 4x4 for the occasional trip this is not a daily driver. Enter Excursion..... if the jeep has trouble on 40s... locked how can i build the excursion smaller? bigger and heavier it needs to be at least on 40s, to be as useful in the deep snow.
