My truck has the factory sliding rear window. Of course it rattle a little, doesn't seal too well and no matter whom I purchase the plastic latch from they seem to only last a little over a year. My rear seal needs replacing so I think I'll replace the rear sliding window. Does anyone have any recommendations for a new sliding rear window as far as brand and supplier? I want one with the metal latch.
When installing a new rubber seal what sealant do you guys use between the cab and seal?
I don't have any recommendations for a back glass, but when i install new glass and rubbers, I use Vaseline and 5/16-3/8" cord/rope. grease up the grove, set in rope, grease up rope in the groove, set window in place and GENTLY pull cord to place the lip on the gasket inside the vehicle. Pull from the inside, slowly and with caution on the corners.
The Vaseline acts as the sealant. I installed lots of glass with no leaks.
Good luck and let us know the outcome.
Does anyone know if I can install the Ranger trim and use the aftermarket sliding window. I see some folks sell a seal for factory sliding window, what's different?

Yes you can, you just have to have the gasket made for the trim. Here is mine, like tpdaniels, it is also a CR Lawrence.
No sealant? When I removed my old windshield it had black tarry sealant all around. Not necessary? Rear window had none. My truck is in paint and I haven't installed the new glass yet.
My truck windshield also has a lot of sealant on it from the PO...I think they do that when they start leaking rather than taking the time to replace the gasket.

Thanks. That's what I'm going to do. Your white looks great. What color is that? I keep thinking I'm going to change the color of my truck when I repaint it but then I see a nice one like yours and I'm not so sure.
Here's a token, on the subject but off the subject. When it rains and the water on your floor mat or carpet is damp when you get in? The windshield may not be leaking. The paper gasket from the windshield wiper arm thru the cowl is rotten. I've replaced them on both or 69's with auto A/C cork adhesive tape. Gaskets are still rotten with holes but my floors aren't wet...

Good tip. I had to replace both of mine. I used D.C. paper gaskets with weatherstripping adhesive on one side. One still leaks occasionally.
I did a search and I'm not sure I found the exact product you used. Do you have a source for the tape?

Ford has used the same POS sliding back glass latch from 1970 thru 1996 F100/350, thru 1997 for F250/350's.
The little plastic charmer has to be bent over upon itself to latch, so before too long, it breaks apart.
Ford replaced the original 1970 part number (D0TZ-1040860-A) with a 1980 part number (EOTZ-1040860-A - available from Ford), but didn't change the design of the POS latch.
And since the little charmer is available from Ford, y'all are buying the same one every time, as no repro parts seller has bothered to reproduced it.
abyars, I bought a large roll of it 17 years ago from an automotive A/c supply company.
Grainger has it. Item # 29VN24, Mfr Model # PTH1
30' for $26.20
Carpenter sells rubber wiper pivot gaskets. They're fun to change with the dash assembled. I did mine while the dash was gutted for painting. Not too bad that way.
