When mine went bad my fuel mileage decreased and I had an increase in black smoke out of the tail pipe when accelerating.

I completely deleted the sensor and plugged the exhaust manifold and deleted the wiring when i rebuilt the harness. No noticeable difference in fuel mileage, and ran fine. On my other 7.3, i cleaned the tube and replaced the sensor and it made no difference there either. Ive heard people say like echo that their mileage decreased, and others have the same results as me.
