converting 2wd to 4x4

As we have told others with this thought in their head.

The expense & time to do this is astronimical.

If you want a 4x4 > then Buy a 4x4 don't screw around with trying to make one.

There are many threads dealing with this topic, maybe it might help if you had a look for them until someone chimes in?

Your body will bolt on but the frames on the F-250 4x4 are narrower so you will need to come up with a way to bolt the bed down since the holes won't line up. I guess you can just drill new holes but they wont have the reinforcing inside them and could eventually pull through and will not stay tight. The holes on the cab line up I believe but I haven't actually done this exact swap.

no they changed around 76 or 78. look at your truck, take a measurement and do the same for the 4x4 frame you want to buy. Most early frames will just swap, but I do remember that the radiator mounts are different between 4x4 and 2x4's, won't hinder the swap but a purist will be able to tell you built your truck into a 4x4. I too was going to do this with my 68 F250 but sold it and bought a 71 4x4 instead. Much easier!
