Well, theres a new guy at work, i just found out yesterday that it was HIS 76 ford out in the parking lot ive been seeing for a little while now. Anyway, its a 2 wheel drive, long box, camper special f250. He asked me what the price would be for new exhaust, from manifolds to the tip (exits at the very rear).
I thought for a minute and told him i really wasnt to sure.
HE then told me he went to Midas, and the told him 600$ (cdn) for them to do it all.
I think thats a bit pricey....is it not?
All there is to pay for is the pipe...plus them bending it and putting it in......600$!!!!? Maybe?
If so....i think i will just get the pipe and do mine myself.
Any info would be great for me and i can pass along some info to the 'new guy'.
Cheers guys
It depends on weather you're doin a single or a dual exhaust. Most of the price is labor, and that dont come cheep. Even so, $600 for a single exhaust is pretty freakin high. It might pay to look into some prefab stuff (like bassani) for that price (if they make something for that truck). For a true dual exhaust, the preice is not so high, depending on where you are that might be about right. Shop labor around here is anywhere from $30/hr from your good buddy, to $50-60/hr.
Yeah, 600 is a little steep i thought.
His is a single exhaust, mine is true duals.
And yeah i guess at 50ish$/hr that does add up quick plus the other costs. Anyway, just lookinhg for some thoughts,
I think i might go down to the 'muffler shop' and see what they say about mine.
thanks Roscoe.
If you got a welder you're in good shape. Check out JC Whitney You can order tubing and mandrel bent 45's, 90's, and 180's in diameters up to 3". I put an exhaust on my 73 F350 using these parts.
Good thinkin V10, but at this time i have no welder.
I went to the 'muffler shop' here in town, and asked what it would cost for them to do my exhaust. Fromt the motor to the end (true dual, no y pipe or anything) both sides he told me 250 and thats canadian. I think thtas pretty reasonable. So im just gonna buy a couple mufflers (flow 40 series orig) and get them to do it.
Thanks man,
250 seems pretty reasonable to me, he better do a good job. And yeah im going on tuesday to get er done, i bought 2 stupid glasspacks as i couldnt afford the flowmasters (just temp. the glasspacks were 50$ for both) THe flow's are 110$ea.
Once i get moved and settled and the $$ starts flowin in ill get them flowies in there.
cheers
