Oil Filter Extra Cap. List
I was wondering if we could list oil filters, that you know of, that is basically the same filter, but offers extra filtering capacity if space permits, that you are aware of? List smallest filter first, then the larger filter or even "largest" filter if it can be increased three sizes! For example:
Motorcraft FL300A = FL-1A
Fram* PH43 = PH8A
*Not a fan or user of Fram oil filters, simply using this as an example. Non-Ford filters cross reference welcome as well. Thanks to all! ED

The thread size and gasket size is the same, but the filter is almost twice as long.
It clears everything just fine. Next time you go to the parts store just tell them you want an oil filter for an 89 f-700 with a 429 or a 370.

Larger capacity filters in some cases are not better. If they happen to "drain back", then your engine will run longer at
start up with no oil pressure.......Just something to think
about!!!

Bob, I agree. However, isn't the majority of all modern oil filters now have that "anti-drain' valve built in to prevent a "dry start" condition? I think all Motorcraft, Purolator and Wix filters have this feature now. 5 years ago, or more no. If i am missing something, or wrong, please correct. Thanks, ED
