It's easy to ge to. It's on I-43 and there are signs everywhere for it. I'm guessing you'l be taking 93 from MN.
The carppy part of it is that when 90/94 splits near Madison, 94 goes due east to Milwaukee, and 90 goes south to Beloit. 43 goes from Beliot to Milwaukee forming a triangle. You're coming in at the top of the triangle and need to go to the center of the bottom leg (I-43 between Milwaukee and Beloit).
You could take 90 out of Madison about 4-5 miles past the split off and pick up Hwy 12 to Cambridge, Whitewater, LaGrange, then East Troy. That takes you almost straight there.
I'm not clear on the exact directions to Alpine Valley from 12, but a lot of these Wisconsin FTE-ers live in that area. There are probably signs on 12 for it too.
There are a couple of ways to get there from the north west. You might try running 94 west from Madison to 67 south (MM282). Take 67 south to 43 and then go east a couple of miles. What ever you do do not have anything that the police would like to confiscate. Open beer in the car BANG they will get you before you get there. They watch that real close. Traffic backs up and they just watch for it. It is a big grassy hill if you don't have reserve tickets. Very steep. Excellent place for listening and viewing. Sounds like it might be wet so bring something to sit on if you don't have a reserve ticket. It will be muddy.
MM282 is mile marker on 94.
Give yourself plenty of time as parking and getting in and out takes time,
mick460 you must have some great weather equipment, its more than a month away and you know the weather allready. WOW You should work for a news station. thanks for the tip on having something to sit on.
I'm just asking early so I won't be in a pinch later wondering what to do and where to go. I do have general addmission in the grass, it was much cheaper. I figured it would be good enough. The money saved can buy me enough diesel to get there and back. I also found it odd that that tour makes 2 stops in Ohio and no stops in Minnesota. I'm going to see Aerosmith and Kiss is a bonus. I still kick myself for not going out there last year when it was Aerosmith with Kid Rock.
So is there any good campgrounds around there?
I really don't feel like making the 6 hour drive home after the show. I figured I could bring the trailer with.
Sorry about the weather predictions. I assumed and didn't read the post correctly I guess. Well figure on rain and if it doesn't it will be a +. Campgrounds in the area........ there might be some but off hand I don't know of any. Somebody else might be able to help there. State parks will get you for a non-resident sticker to enter and stop or camp in the park so take that into consideration over a private one. There are a lot between the Dells and Madison. That's still an hour and a half with good going from Alpine Valley. The resort areas are either in the opposite direction of where you're going or kind of far away. I'll do some more checking and try and post some if I find some in the area. Good luck.
