9" rear end axle bearing woes

I've been trying to come up with axle bearings for my '74 F100 for two weeks. I'm on my fifth set and those aren't right either. I have the differential ID tag and the pertinent measurements of the axle shaft and rear end housing but no one seems to be able to do much with it.

The axle shaft OD is 1.538"
The bearing pocket OD is 3.138"
The bearing pocket depth is .688"

Any idea why I'm having so much trouble finding the right bearing? Help me out here fellas... I'm losing my mind here.

2.75:1 ratio, open (single track) differential, 28-spline axles.

Are the axle bearings sealed ball bearings or does it have tapered roller bearings?

Should be a number on the bearing, and on the seal.

No such luck; there's nothing on them.

I highly suspect the axle bearing dimensions are 1-17/32" I.D by 3-9/64" O.D.

I had some difficulty, a few months back, figuring out the axle bearings needed for the 31-spline axles I put in my '69 F100. I finally got it figured out though.

These are the bearings and their part numbers I used and how to press the axle bearings on.

You might check with NAPA to see if these bearings will fit your axles.

I was hunting for a set of wheel seals for my 77 and no parts house had them.. I took my seal, advanced let me loose and I matched an exact set..

Sometimes you gotta take your things to the parts house and match them yourself..

Matching those up could be a problem.

I know you said there are no numbers on the old parts but I have many, many times had to CAREFULLY wire brush, sand, lacquer thinner, whatever; to find a number on the old race or seal. Sometimes stamped sometimes printed. They are almost always there. I have even used a magnifying glass to decipher faint letters/numbers. Are those numbers partially showing on the bottom left race in the last pic? Good luck! Gary
