Engine "stuck" trying to start - ideas?

Oh, and I did examine the flywheel teeth I could see through the starter hole. Not only are there none visibly missing, they don't even look the slightest bit distressed. Neither did the teeth on the starter this time around, but from previous experience, it seems like whatever the flywheel is made of is harder than what the starter gear is made of. Which is good, I suppose. I'd much rather bust up the starter than the flywheel.
