transmission conversion
i have a 84 6.9 liter with 4 speed manual i need to no what year 5 speed manual transmissions will interchange. also would like to now what kind of fuel mileage i can expect with 4speed, truck has 4 11 diff

Hi, I just swapped a 6.9 with a 4 speed out of an 84 F-250 into an 89 F-250 with a 5 speed, It will work as long as you make sure you get the 5 speed trans, complete clutch, flywheel, and the bolts that hold the flywheel to the crank. Also if you have a four wheel drive, I dont think your transfer case will bolt to the 5 speed. The 5 speed may also have a slip yoke driveshaft, whitch is differant from what you have.
