I am looking to replace the main hood release return spring on my 1950 F2. The original spring seems to have lost tension and will not return the main latch to the locked position. I looked it up in my parts book and it shows it as part number 16921 in the illustrations. When I look that number up in the parts section it does not show anything for the '48 / '50. It only shows the number starting for the '51 / '52 which is not the same as the '48 / '50. Does anyone know what the correct parts number is for this spring?
Midwest Early ford has the spring $5.00 it's on page 60 of their new catalog. it shows for 51 52, but I see nothing in the parts book for 48-50.
That's the problem I am seeing. I found a number of places that sell the spring for the '51 and '52 but none for my '50. The spring I need is not tubular like the '51 but is a flat coil spring similar to the spring in our door latches.
If you still have the original spring in one piece, can you post a close-up of it next to a ruler? It looks a lot (in the parts book) like the coiled springs used in door latches.
Thanks Joe. I just ordered it from NOS Parts. I guess the 7C-16921 part number became obsolete before the parts book I have was issued and does not show. Thanks again!!
