Truck was running fine this weekend on a 600 mile trip. Set out today to move across the country with the camper, things are good until the last hill leaving San Diego. The truck just looses power- 2000 rpm, WOT, 70 fuel psi and starts to slow. It will downshift and build boost, and reach 2500 rpm, but on inclines it tops at 2000 unless I downshift.
I was thinking boost leak but when I got to a ship the HPOP is putting out 400 psi and duty cycle climbs from 20 into 60 at idle. Oh, and it is rough to start. No accelerating is quick like yesterday.
Can the HPOP fail so suddenly? No signs or wanting, just asked for more with the accelerator but it went to the floor with no response.
Not saying you have a transmission issue but John Wood Automotive is in Holtville not too far from El Centro. I believe he could help with non-transmission issues.
Around 206k for miles and no injector work that I know of. Bought it at 156k. It seems to be mostly affected at the top end- normal acceleration to higher speeds/ RPMs. I took it to Robert Nelson Auto in the same parking lot as John Wood in Holtville. Ordered the HPOP and sensor for replacement tomorrow. I'm hoping this fixes it. Need to get moving to my new unit.
