Gees Jeff, didn't your mother ever tell you to not play in the street? Or was she like my mother in law, and told her kids (who were driving her crazy at the time) TO go play in the street & count the number of cars that ran over them?

I know this clown. You still messing around with that whirly bird overseas? I'll take the rain over the heat, never heard of anyone getting a heatstroke in the rain. That drowning stuff you hear about...the catfish they were trying to noodle was just bigger than them.

Granted it's not original, stuff one of the later ones with the turbocharger stacked on top...I'll take two please! Disclaimer, I have no involvement with this truck....just passing it along if someone (*cough* Walley) might be interested in a towing/pulling truck.

Always liked the '78-'79 Fords, you might actually have sucked me in on that one if I hadn't just spent $1500 plus about 2 weeks labor on power steering and disc brakes for my truck.
A buddy of mine who's into Ford's big time came up with a '63 GMC 1 ton truck in a trade deal. New crate 350, 8 foot flat bed, new paint job, granny low 4 speed...you get the idea. Anyway, he stopped by last Thursday to see if I might be interested in trading for my truck as he knows my bow tie background.
Just couldn't bring myself to trade off $1500 worth of brand new parts(not to mention my time and labor), even for a GMC.

Saw that listed a couple months ago. I can't remember what the asking price on it was...... but it was well beyond what I could afford.

Although he might have done a good job on the swap, I for one wouldn't have it. I can't see that Dana 60 front end holding up roughly 2K of motor and Allison trans for long, much less with batteries and a winch in that monster front bumper. There are quite a few cobwebs under the truck for a reason, probably can't keep it in the road with that much weight on the front.

Well this month is nearly over. Meaning school starts back in a couple of weeks. I don't want to say it's the happiest time of the year, but my wife and I look forward to it.

Until I seen that video, I'd never seen a 3208 in anything smaller than a F650 sized truck. Indeed, it is quite a bit of iron there. There was another video "suggested" by YouTube of a F350 with another 3208 in it. Didn't even wait around to see the whole video...so at least two Fords have been polluted/improved with Cat diesel power.

There's a whole lot more horsepower to be had in much smaller and lighter packages now to even consider using one of these boat anchors in a pickup. I'm not really fond of the mid size V8 diesel engines, have owned 2 of the Cats, one 3208 and one 1160 which was just an earlier version. Both of them chunked rods out the side with absolutely no warning. Also owned one of the 8.2 Detroit's for a short time, all I will say about that POS is run away, quickly! I guess the best mid size V8 I ever had any dealing with was the 9.0 IH, pretty much the big brother of the 6.9 and 7.3 IDI.

Yeah. The "gee whiz" factor is about the only reason for putting that engine in that truck.

I'd be tempted to try the 8.6L IH (DT530) if I ever happened across one.
