saving my dana 60
i've just had an axle bearing failure on my dana 60. whats worse, it's spun on the axle tube.. can a sleeve be put on these with undersize bearings???
some people are telling me i better look for a new axle....

If you put a sleeve on it you wouldn't need undersize bearings, but the process would be a nightmare forever. First there would be the sleeve fitting/installation work. Whew! I wouldn't do that. There have been instances where the housing has been completey stripped, taken to a machine shop (large lathes) and welded up then turned to original diameter. This could be a fix, but expensive unless you know someone with that kind of equipment. Just compare that to finding, buying and changing out the whole assembly. Or finding a gutted housing.

thankfully the sleeve wasnt too marred up.. a little sand paper treatment took care of it. i was lucky, considering i had to cut the bearing in two halfs in order to remove it!!! a 60lb puller wouldnt budge it!!!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this does the trick.. otherwise your housing suggestion is likely the route i'd take..
