88 150 running good. Shut it off for 5 minutes, came back and noticed the engine light was on. Also, oil pressure gauge was not registering. Checked oil, full. Any ideas about this beast?

The gauge on the dash is for pressure (go/no go gauge).
Best thing to do is pull the codes and figure out why the light is on and don't drive the truck till you are confident the oil pressure is good.
Hop down a few posts to Tall Paul's question and read that. Pulling the codes is real easy if you have a analog voltmeter. Takes a few minutes.
