Question Trans Temp. Sending Unit Placement ?

Hi, I hope someone can tell me if there is a place on the trans. that a temp. sending unit can screw. in. Or do I need to weld in a bung to the pan.

97 PSD AUTO 4X4 Thanks

Trans Temp. Sending Unit Placement ?

If you look at the driver side of the tranny there should be a small bolt in the side of the transmission, not the pan. This is where my autometer sender went.

sending unit

Hey ford guy,

I just installed my gages(autometer) and I think the sending unit "bottoms out"

did you have this issue, or is it my imagination??? The sending unit is about a 1/2" longer

Thanks for any help, i spaced it out but it leaks a little

No mine never bottomed out. Even if it has bottomed out as long as it is in the fluid and it is not leaking...there should be no problem.

sending unit

Thanks, I measured the unit and then the depth of the hole until it hit something in the tranny. It seems that the internal thread is not as deep as the sending units.

So the unit does not thread in all the way to the shoulder of the sending unit.
I put it in and it works fine ,no leaks and runs about 125-150 under normal driving conditions.

Thanks for the response and info
