2015 250 rode rough so I checked tire pressure, Wow!

My left tires had 120psi front and back and the right had 80psi. I have 7000 miles on it. I admit I haven't check the tire pressures previously. My question is how the left two got that much over inflated. It hasn't been anywhere but the dealer and my shop.

A display of tire pressures on the dash would be great for this! 60psi over inflated could have killed someone.

They can't inflate themselves. Someone had to put that pressure into them.

120 is above the tires recommend psi from the manufacturer, you're lucky they didn't blow. I believe my max psi is 80. I have Michelins.

I know from experience and 3 trucks with tpms sensors on the stems, you have to hold a tire gauge correctly and check more then once per tire. If Ford isn't going to use the sensors it would be safer to leave them off entirely.

Do you have a faulty tire pressure gauge? I know heat will cause them to raise pressure, and I have seen some garbage trucks I used to work on that had tires rated to 130psi, and we maxed them out. On a hot day when they would come in, they exceeded my 150psi gauge. To go from 80 to 120 is a lot!

Mine came from the dealer with 55 psi in all the tires. The tires say 80 & the door tag says 65. I upped the pressure to 70 & thought it rode way too rough. I also thought it did steer good when it was wet out. Every few days I've been letting a little air out to find the best ride. I'm down to 62 psi & think I'll stay there. I wonder if someone was playing a joke on you?

always go by the door sticker. that is a recommended pressure based on your particular vehicle no matter the max rating of the tire itself.
the rating on the tire is a max value.

I run 50 on all 4 tires, made a huge difference in ride, that and ditching the stock 235 85 r16's. The truck drove like poo with those tires.

I used to go to 25 pounds since I never towed or hauled anything and because the center of the tires would wear out first.

Air pressure is all over the board. How is it we don`t get premature tire wear. Back in the day tires called for 32 lbs.35 would wear the center and 29 would wear the edges. I realize tires have come along way, but these are some big differences.

Dealers will pump them up to prevent flat-spotting from sitting in one location too long. (the lot).
