So I bought a new tank from LMC Truck and it has what appears to be a 3/8 opening in the back of my tank to thread the fuel line into. Someone had a plastic boat fuel cell in it before. They didn't hack up the metal fuel line, though. Problem is, looks like I have a 1/2 inch fitting to try and screw into a 3/8 hole!! Anyone run into this and if so, how to find an adapter to make this work?!?!

Not being able to distinguish the actual size of the fitting in the new tank, I will offer up what I know of the subject. I believe the weld bung in the tank is either 1/4 npt or 3/8 npt, my guess here is, it looks like 1/4 npt to me. Beings that I have never seen a truck with 1/2" fuel lines I will say that the supply line is 5/16 with a male 5/16 inverted flare. So take the fitting out of the gas tank and take it to Napa and tell them you want a fitting similar but to have the same npt threads as the one you have and on the other end have female 5/16 inverted flare threads. At this point it will be just a process of elimination, but should only involve a couple trips to Napa
