bed change and tail light problems
I have a 2000 F-250 whose bed crossmembers disintegrated. I am in process of putting on a 2013 take-off bed that came out of Texas in a tractor trailer load that landed in western Mass. The rear cross-member/ spare tire carrier had to be cut out and rebuilt (with 2x4 tube stock, 4 pieces.) One rear spring shackle bracket needs to be replaced. What is hanging me up is 'whether to change to the 2013 tail light assemblies. The 2000 seem to fit and the mounting bolts and tabs line up. Ford lists a taillight change in 2007, but I am wondering if they just switched the reverse lights to the top. The other problem is finding the plastic receivers ( located in the truck) that the metal tabs on the taillight assembly fit into. Does anyone have a source for these receivers. I guess I could experiment with drywall shields for tapping screws.
