Air Horns
I would like to get some feedback and ideas on how and where to install it. Maybe some company references as well, where to purchase some deep sounding big rig horns.
Got a black '03 X 4x4 with a V10 in it...
Please let me know... Thanks!
I mounted the compressor behind the drivers side battery , the air tank along side the drivers side running board under the truck , and the horn itself I found a place to wedge it under the hood , with the rear of the horn close to the master cylinder.
The install is clean , with nothing visable. I even wired it so the air horn comes on when i press the stock horn button in the stearing wheel.....
I also read about airhorns, which do not require a separate air tank. Are those any good or are those horns just plain junk? Any ideas or feedback?
I am really afraid that I am not able to do the task for the installation myself. I may even consider having a shop doing that task for me. Any idea on how much you should calculate for labor.
I really would like to replace the factory horn, so that I can use the standard stearing wheel horn button to work the air horn(s).
There seem to be a ton of different horns out there.... different length, material, mulit-horns, etc. Just wonder somtimes how they will sound?
Any feedback or comments are appreciated... Thanks for everyone ahead of time...

I am using the dark colored set because they sound better and are lower profile to sit down in my roof rack. They came off a passenger train. the others are from a frieght train
Their was a post on the superduty/Excursion forum about 19.5 inch wheels , and the owner got them from this company , just doa search and the website should be their..........
I checked out several web sites (wolo, hella, hadley, rickson, etc.). So far Hadley was very courteous and helpful and replied right back on my questions I had about their products.
Seems like I will go for the Hadley kit, which includes everything you need (compressor, tank, valves, and so on) for a vehicle without existing on-board air system.
Unfortunately they don't have any sound clips on their website, but the representative gave me some ideas on what's installed on those big rigs like Mack, Kenworth, etc.
I keep you updated on how things go with the installation....

Ford did not leave much space to work with under the hood, huh?
Pretty crowded there in order to put 2 two foot horns in (LOL).
I acutally found an area, where they would fit perfectly. Right underneath the passenger side, hidden by the running board, and sitting deep enough to be protected. There are all kind of electrical wires running there as well. So it can't be a horrible area to put those. Probably could mount the tank there as well?
I still would like to know where other people have their tanks and compressor installed??? Any idea and input?
Please let me know.... Thanks so much!!
Installed the Hadley Ambassador Air Horn Kit last weekend on my truck. Was not very difficult at all. Just pay attention to the connectios as they may differ from the installation chart provided with the Air Horn Kit.
I purchased the kit directly from Hadley (their distributor is Component Product Group). Both (Hadley (Brian) and CPG (Kevin) ) I can highly recommend due to their expertise, service and support. Absolutely great job!!!
I brought the truck to the dealer for the electrical hook up as I did not wanted to mess with that.
As I picked it up last night I was really impressed. Man, what a sound of those horns. I think it'll blast some smaller rice burners right out of your lane. Gee, can't get enough of that sound (I try to get myself off that horn, LOL).
BTW: Those horns are the original equipment for Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks....
I'll post some pics of the application after it stops raining here...
So put some of those horns on and I'm pretty sure people will scramble to get out of your way...
I am trying to provide you with some pics from my installation of my Hadley Ambassador Air Horns, but it seems I am unable to do so here...
Any idea why I don't have the option to post some pics?
