Issues with new injectors
I got this off of www.6literpowerstroke.com.
Any idea what injectors they are talking about?

What I have to tell you is that FOMOCO is and has been bench testing the NEW and IMPROVED injectors, currently 40% are failing the flow test. (meaning they are delivering less than the minimum amounts of fuel) This is causing a perceived miss that cannot be seen on the power balance screen of the WDS, Smoke on start up after a hot soak, smoke on acceleration, and turbo lag are all indications of these failed injectors. FOMOCO currently has a known batch of "good" injectors available, but you have to go through your District Rep. He has to call FOMOCO, and have them sent to you...no parts checked in, no parts return, no record of the exchange. (Other than your R.O. records) This is very hush hush. The Fax I received of the internal memo describing the tests required to diagnose the faulty injectors was specifically instructed not to be shared with dealership personnel.
I'll bring it home tomorrow night and post it here to aid technicians with diag.
It's a shame that we are asked to fix a manufacturers failures, but to top it off, they dont give us the information or parts to fix them.

Got word yesterday that the known good injectors are a flop.Twelve trucks were fitted with these injector and after only a week they are dropping like flies.Ford has scrapped the plan...

We only hot test a low percentage of engines we build for 12 minutes and we're not seeing it on those engines (very rarely do we have an engine with low H/P). When we do, we have no capability to diagnose it. Our diagnostic cell has never been put into production and they've cut our workforce so thin, we wouldn't have anybody to run it anyway. I am convinced that the morons who run our plant are activly trying to put us out of business!
Thats interesting. At Mack Trucks, we "green test" all engines we build here in Hagerstown. They are run about 20 minutes each, and power is trimmed in the process.
