Gas Fumes

I'm still getting used to my '66 LWB Custom Cab w/352. It still has the gas tank in the cab. I've noticed I can smell gas fumes most of the time and the smell gets stronger as the weather heats up. Is this a common tank vent problem or do I simply need a new gas cap? There are no gas leaks and I've replaced all of the hoses. I'm also missing the float chamber vent on the Ford two barrel (and would appreciate any help in finding a replacement). The smell is definitely in the vacinity of the gas tank cap.

Gas Fumes

mine was leaking some around the sending unit. It was deceptive because the only time it would show any leakage was after I had been cornering pretty hard, which I don't do often (handling isn't a solid axle's forte...). I wasn't really looking for it there since it looked dry most of the time, so I attributed that to the gas just getting sloshed out cap when it wasn't. Just a thought on something you might want to check out...
