While I was looking around under the hood of my 1992 F-150 XLT with 300I6 engine and E4OD tranny, I saw the diagram for hooking up the fan belt. And while looking at it, I saw that you could bypass something called A/C CLIM (which I'm assuming is the Air Conditioner/Heater) and if it is, I was wondering, if you repositioned the belt like it showed, would it put a little less strain on your truck and give you alittle more power? I know it wouldn't be much, but I was just curious as I NEVER use the AC/Heater anyway. If it is and I repositioned the belt, could it harm my truck in some way? Thanks, Jay.
From what i have heard theres greater throttle response on the 4.9s if you take it out, theres also the added benefit of less weight and cleaner engine bay. you would need to get a shorter belt or add a idler pulley.
I thought you would get alittle more power from it, anyone else do this and know of any long term side effects? And I don't think I'd need a shorter belt, because you route the belt differently and it looks like it would keep you from needing a shorter belt.
