KOEO Codes
My '95 Explorer 4.0 4x4 is giving me some problems. I took it to my friend who has a cool Snap-on code reader. It read KOEO continuous 172 and 176. My friend is a transmission guy so he couldn't help me out with them. Does anyone know what these codes mean or know where I can look up the info I need and what needs to be done to fix the problem.

http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/3digit.html has code descriptions. Those two are both O2 sensor codes indicating lean. There are several possible causes for these codes. Your best resource for diagnosing these is probably a good repair manual. I usually go to the library and look in the Mitchell auto repair manuals. That will take you through the pinpoint tests and such to determine what is causing the codes. It could be bad O2 sensors, broken/bad wiring, incorrect fuel pressures, and other things.
